Timing Chain - Inspection / Installation

Timing chain mating mark colors: mark 1 = Gold; marks 2 and 3 = Silver. Link counts between marks: 20, 56, 48 rollers.

Inspection

Check for cracks and excessive wear at roller links. Replace chain if necessary.

Installation

  1. 1
    Install crankshaft sprocket on crankshaft.

    Position crankshaft so that No. 1 piston is set at T.D.C. (Keyway at 12 o'clock-mating mark at 4 o'clock approx.) fit timing chain to crankshaft sprocket so that mating mark is in line with mating mark on crankshaft sprocket.
