Valve Clearance Adjustment (Cont'd)
- 5Turn crankshaft one revolution (360°) and align mark on crankshaft pulley with pointer.
- 6Check those camshaft clearances shown in the figure. Use the same procedure as mentioned in step 4.
SEM882D - 7If camshaft clearances are within specification, install any parts removed in reverse order of removal.
IMPORTANT
Select a suitable shim and a suitable rocker arm guide when camshaft clearances are out of specification or when replacing valve, cylinder head, shim, rocker arm guide and/or valve seat with new one(s), as follows: Adjust valve clearance and camshaft clearance while engine is hot.
Shim selection / removal
- 8Set No. 1 piston at T.D.C. on the compression stroke by rotating crankshaft.

IMPORTANT
Rotate crankshaft until mating mark on camshaft sprocket is set at position indicated in figure at right.

- 9Remove chain tensioner.
- 10Remove distributor.
- 11Remove camshaft sprockets.
- 12Remove camshafts, oil tubes and rocker arms.
- 13Remove the shim and rocker arm guide to adjust the corresponding camshaft.
