Cylinder Block - Inspection (Cont'd): Cylinder Block Distortion / Cylinder Bore
EM-244spec tableCylinder bore standard diameters and wear/out-of-round limits differ between CD17 and CD20.
Inspection (Cont'd)
CYLINDER BLOCK DISTORTION
Clean upper face of cylinder block and measure the distortion.
| Specification | Value |
|---|---|
| Distortion limit0.0039 in | 0.10mm |
Distortion limit0.0039 in
0.10mm
If out of specification, resurface it.
IMPORTANT
The resurfacing limit of cylinder block is determined by cylinder head resurfacing in an engine. Amount of cylinder head resurfacing is "A". Amount of cylinder block resurfacing is "B". The maximum limit is as follows: A + B = 0.1 mm (0.004 in)
If necessary, replace cylinder block.
CYLINDER BORE
Cylinder Bore Inspection
- 1Check for scratches or seizure. If seizure is found, hone bore.
SEM704D - 2Using a bore gauge, measure cylinder bore for wear, out-of-round or taper. Standard bore diameter: CD17 80.000 - 80.050 mm (3.1496 - 3.1516 in); CD20 84.500 - 84.550 mm (3.3268 - 3.3287 in).

If it exceeds the limit, rebore all four cylinders. Replace cylinder block if necessary.
IMPORTANT
If either cylinder block or piston is replaced with a new one, select the same piston as piston grade number punched on cylinder block upper surfaces.
