CD engine (CD17/CD20 diesel) cylinder head removal.

CYLINDER HEAD — Removal

Removal

  1. 1
    Drain coolant and disconnect front exhaust pipe from manifold.
    Line drawing of the cylinder block / engine lower area with a leader pointing to the 'Drain plug (cylinder block)'. Illustrates draining of coolant.

    Remove water hoses, air duct and intake manifold.
  3. 3
    Remove heat shield and exhaust manifold.
  4. 4
    Remove rocker cover and injection tubes.
  5. 5
    Remove both timing belts. Set No. 1 cylinder at T.D.C. on its compression stroke. Refer to "Replacing Timing Belt".
    After timing belts have been removed, do not rotate crankshaft and/or camshaft separately as valves will hit piston heads.

    Remove cylinder head.
