When installing sliding parts such as bearings and pistons, be sure to apply engine oil on the sliding surfaces. Place removed parts such as bearings and bearing caps in their proper order and direction. When tightening connecting rod bolts and main bearing cap bolts, apply engine oil to thread portion of bolts and seating surface of nuts.
Disassembly
PISTON AND CRANKSHAFT
Piston and Crankshaft Disassembly
- 1Place engine on work stand with Tool.
SEM514 - 2Remove cylinder head and timing belt.
- 3Drain engine oil.
- 4Remove water pump.
- 5Remove oil pan and oil strainer.
- 6Remove pistons.
- 7Remove bearing caps and crankshaft.Place the bearings and caps in their proper order.Loosen in numerical order.

Inspection
PISTON AND PISTON PIN CLEARANCE
Confirm the fitting of piston pin into piston pin hole to such an extent that it can be pressed smoothly by finger at room temperature.
