EF & EC-634prose procedure

Air regulator illustration differs between SR20DE (SEF292L) and SR20DET (SEF293L).

TROUBLE DIAGNOSES

Electrical Components Inspection (Cont'd)

F.I.C.D. SOLENOID VALVE (Cont'd)

  1. 3
Check plunger for seizing or sticking.
Exploded illustration of the F.I.C.D. solenoid valve showing the plunger, spring and washer removed. Used to check plunger for seizing/sticking and check for broken spring. Labelled 'Washer', 'Spring', 'Plunger'.
    SEF097K
  2. 4
    Check for broken spring.

AIR REGULATOR

  1. 1
    Disconnect air regulator harness connector.
SR20DE air regulator illustration. Harness connector disconnected (DISCONNECT symbol); an ohmmeter (Ω) checks air regulator resistance. Labelled 'Front exhaust tube'.
    SEF292L
  2. 2
    Check air regulator resistance.
  3. 3
    Check air regulator for clogging.
Resistanceair regulator
Approximately 70 - 80Ω

DETONATION SENSOR

  1. 1
    Disconnect detonation sensor harness connector.
Detonation sensor illustration. Harness connector disconnected (DISCONNECT symbol); shows terminals ⓐ, ⓑ and an ohmmeter (Ω) checking continuity between terminal ⓐ and ground.
    SEF970K
  2. 2
Check continuity between terminal ⓐ and ground. Continuity should exist.
It is necessary to use an ohmmeter which can measure more than 10 MΩ.

Installation

Install detonation sensor with connector side facing engine front.
When installing detonation sensor, ensure both upper and lower sides of detonation sensor and cylinder block mating surface are clean and free from foreign particles.
When tightening detonation sensor, be careful not to apply excessive force to connector.
Make sure detonation sensor is not in contact with any adjacent part after installing.
