Component Parts Inspection

THERMAL VACUUM VALVE (T.V.V.)

Remove T.V.V. from engine. Blow air from (A) port and check to be sure that T.V.V. opens or closes in response to its temperature.

VACUUM DELAY VALVE

Vacuum Delay Valve Inspection

  1. 1
    Blow air from the port of the distributor side. The valve is in good condition if the air flows through the valve.
    Inspection of the vacuum delay valve by blowing air through the valve. Labels: Carburetor side (Color: Brown) on left, Distributor side on right. A hand blower applies air at each port.

    Try again from the opposite side of the valve. The valve is in good condition if the air flow resistance is greater than in step 1 above.

ONE-WAY VALVE

One-Way Valve Inspection

  1. 1
    Blow air from the port of the intake manifold side. The one-way valve is in good condition if the air does not flow through the valve.
    Inspection of the one-way valve by blowing air through the valve. Labels: Distributor side (Color: White) on left, Intake manifold side on right. A hand blower applies air at each port.

    Try again from the opposite side (White-faced side) of the valve. The valve is in good condition if the air flow resistance is greater.
