PREPARATION

  1. 1
    Make sure that the following parts are in good order. • Battery • Ignition system • Engine oil and coolant levels • Fuses • E.C.U. harness connector • Vacuum hoses • Air intake system (Oil filler cap, oil level gauge, etc.) • Engine compression • E.G.R. control valve operation • Throttle valve

    Turn off headlamps, heater blower and rear defogger.
  3. 3
    Keep front wheels pointed straight ahead.
  4. 4
    Make the check after the radiator fan has stopped.

Idle Speed and Mixture Ratio (Models with catalyzer without E.G.R.)

Start engine and warm it up until water temperature indicator points to the middle of the gauge. Ensure that engine speed is below 1,000 rpm.

Open engine hood.

Run engine at about 2,000 rpm for 2 minutes.

Race engine (2,000 to 3,000 rpm) 2 or 3 times under no-load and run engine at idle speed.

Check ignition timing. IGNITION TIMING: 10°±2° B.T.D.C. (in "N" position)
