E.C.C. TROUBLE DIAGNOSES (Models with catalyzer) — Electrical Components Inspection (Cont'd)

EF & EC-145prose procedure

GA13DS, GA14DS & GA16DS engines (models with catalyzer).

Electrical Components Inspection (Cont'd)

AIR INDUCTION CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE AND E.G.R. & CANISTER CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE

  1. 1
Check it for electric continuity. Continuity should exist.
Air induction control / canister control solenoid valve with an ohmmeter (Ω) symbol connected to its two terminals, illustrating the electric continuity check. Labeled 'Solenoid valve'.
    SEF416K
  2. 2
Check the solenoid valve for normal operation. Supply it with battery voltage, and check whether there is continuity between ports Ⓐ, Ⓑ and Ⓒ as shown below.
Solenoid valve connected to a battery (BAT) with callouts A, B and C indicating ports, illustrating operation check while supplying battery voltage. An arrow points to a triangular diagram of the valve ports.

Solenoid valve continuity

Continuity
Solenoid valve OFFⒷ-Ⓒ
Solenoid valve ONⒶ-Ⓑ
If N.G., replace air induction control solenoid valve.

THROTTLE VALVE SWITCH

  1. 1
    Disconnect throttle valve switch connector.
  2. 2
Check continuity between terminals Ⓒ and Ⓑ.
Throttle valve switch connector on the engine with terminals labeled c and b, and an ohmmeter (Ω) symbol indicating continuity check between the terminals.

ContinuityYes
If N.G., replace throttle valve switch.

IDLE-UP CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE

  1. 1
    Disconnect solenoid harness connector.
  2. 2
Connect solenoid harness connector to battery.
Idle-up control solenoid valve mounted on the engine, connected to a battery (BAT). An arrow points to the idle-up solenoid valve location. Labeled 'Idle-up solenoid valve'.
    SEF419K
  3. 3
Check "click" sound is heard from solenoid when battery is connected and disconnected. If N.G., replace idle-up solenoid.

FUEL CUT SOLENOID VALVE

  1. 1
    Disconnect solenoid harness connector.
  2. 2
Connect solenoid harness connector to battery.
Fuel cut solenoid valve on the engine connected to a battery (BAT). An arrow points to the fuel cut solenoid valve. Labeled 'Fuel cut solenoid valve'.
    SEF420K
  3. 3
Check "click" sound is heard from solenoid when battery is connected and disconnected. If N.G., replace fuel cut solenoid.
