System Description (Cont'd)
When the engine is warmed up, the A.T.C. temperature sensor releases to the atmosphere the intake manifold vacuum leading to the vacuum motor. Therefore, the vacuum motor deactivates. In this step, the air control valve shuts off hot air, allowing normal temperature air to flow to the air cleaner.

Inspection
AIR CLEANER FILTER (Viscous paper type)
Viscous paper type air cleaner filter does not need cleaning between renewals. The filter should never be brushed or blasted because both cause clogging and enrich the mixture ratio.
AUTOMATIC TEMPERATURE CONTROL SYSTEM
Engine stall or hesitation; Increase in fuel consumption; Lack of power. If these phenomena occur, check A.T.C. system before inspecting carburetor.
Automatic Temperature Control System Inspection
- 1Check hoses for cracks, distortion and improper position.
SEF747H - 2Check A.T.C. system for proper function while engine is cool. Check air control valve position. Air control valve is correct if it is in the lower position.
