IGNITION CONTROL SYSTEM — Distributor (Models without catalyzer)
EF & EC-189prose procedureModels without catalyzer, GA13DS, GA14DS & GA16DS.
Disassembly
Carefully observe the following instructions during disassembly.
Put a matchmark across cam and shaft so that original combination can be restored at assembly.
Inscribe a matchmark across spring and mating parts so that spring can be replaced in its original position during assembly. Be careful not to stretch or deform governor spring.
Distributor Component Check
CAP AND ROTOR HEAD
Cap and Rotor Head Check
- 1Check cap and rotor head for dust, carbon deposits and cracks.
SEL656B - 2Measure insulation resistance between electrodes on ignition coil and spark plug sides on cap.
| Specification | Value |
|---|---|
| Insulation resistance | More than 50MΩ |

VACUUM ADVANCE
Vacuum Advance Check
- 1Connect vacuum pump gauge to vacuum controller and gradually draw a vacuum while watching breaker plate movement. Check for smooth operation with no evidence of binding.
SEF466K - 2Turn breaker plate right and left to check for freedom of movement.
GOVERNOR ADVANCE
Turn head of cam assembly counterclockwise, release it, then check that it returns smoothly to the original position.
