Chassis and Body Maintenance — Checking/Changing M/T Oil, Checking A/T Fluid Level

MA-59prose procedure

Distinguishes 2WD vs 4WD drain plug locations for M/T. Transmission codes RN4F30A, RS5F30A, RS5F31A, RS5F32A, RS5F50A have different oil capacities.

Checking M/T Oil (Cont'd)

  1. 2
    Check oil level.
Never start engine while checking oil level.

Changing M/T Oil

Oil capacity — RN4F30A
2.6liters (4-5/8 Imp pt)
Oil capacity — RS5F30A
2.8liters (4-7/8 Imp pt)
Oil capacity — RS5F31A
2.9liters (5-1/8 Imp pt)
Oil capacity — RS5F32A
3.5 - 3.7liters (6-1/8 - 6-1/2 Imp pt)
Oil capacity — RS5F50A
4.2liters (7-3/8 Imp pt)
Use recommended gear oil "API GL-4" with suitable viscosity.

Checking A/T Fluid Level

  1. 1
    Check for fluid leakage.

  2. 2
Check fluid level. Fluid level should be checked using "HOT" range on dipstick at fluid temperatures of 50 to 80C (122 to 176F) after vehicle has been driven approximately 5 minutes in urban areas after engine is warmed up. But it can be checked at fluid temperatures of 30 to 50C (86 to 122F) using "COLD" range on dipstick for reference after engine is warmed up and before driving. However, fluid level must be rechecked using "HOT" range.
