Drive Belt Inspection / Changing Engine Coolant

MA-39prose procedure

Drive Belt Inspection

  1. 1
Inspect for cracks, fraying, wear or oil adhesion. If necessary, replace with new one.
The belts should not touch the bottom of the pulley groove.
Drive belt routing diagram showing the front of the engine with labeled pulleys: power steering pump, water pump pulley, alternator, crankshaft pulley, idler pulley, and compressor. Labels point to the adjusting bolt, lock bolt and idler pulley lock nut. The lock bolt tightening torque is noted as 31-42 N-m (3.2-4.3 kg-m, 23-31 ft-lb).

  2. 2
Inspect drive belt deflections by pushing on the belt midway between pulleys.
Adjust if belt deflections exceed the limit.
