Checking Drive Belts

  1. 1
Inspect for cracks, fraying, wear or oil adhesion. If necessary, replace with a new one.
Two belt-routing diagrams. Left: 'With air conditioner' showing belt routing among Water pump, Alternator, Power steering oil pump, Crankshaft pulley and Compressor, with adjustment detail (Tighten/Loosen at Adjusting bolt) and torque 16 - 22 N·m (1.6 - 2.2 kg-m, 12 - 16 ft-lb). Right: 'Without air conditioner' showing routing among Water pump, Alternator, Power steering oil pump and Crankshaft pulley with the same adjustment detail and torque. Check points marked with arrows.
